A nice cruise today

Today Uncle Wally and I went for a ride. About 76 miles down and another back. Saw Mount Katahdin at a scenic stop.

We had to get lunch, so we stopped at a fine diner in Sherman next to Patton. There's a bike club that's in Matahwamkeg that we went by, but I wasn't paying attention so I missed it.

Anyway here are a few pictures to go with the story.

New parts

I ordered my kickstart kit and forward controls today. I figured my birthday is coming up and I deserve new parts.

Tinkering tonkering

The oil was fine, but I changed it anyway. I wanted to make sure the filter was fresh. So today my uncle and I took off for a 50 mile ride through the countryside.

Returned. Glass of water. Decided to head out for more. Click click click... Time for a new battery. That battery had been abused and defeated.

My concerns about my generator and voltage regulator have been put to rest as the system was charging. Even before a full charge was put on.

it's been awhile

She's finally back together and running decent. Had a slit in a hose that ran from the oil tank, but that's getting fixed. Then the generator bearings were bad and making a wicked noise so that's getting done too. Once those 2 things are done I think I just want to replace any colored wire with black. Hopefully the struts get done someday and maybe I'll find a set of mirrors I like. Looking around for cheap stuff and deals.

Paint job is complete

Well now that the paint is done I've only got a set of struts to get fabricated and painted black. Then I get to slap it all back together, but with 10 inches of snow that hit the round today I don't think I'm going to be in much of a rush.

Last night they polished everything up and got any scuffs and minor imperfections out of it. Should be looking pretty nice when I pick them up.

Double primed, 2 coats of black, then 1 or 2 coats of metallic black, 2 coats of clear, 2 cloats of black cherry and 2 or 3 more coats of clear and she's finished. It looks black but in the sun you see slight flakes of black and a slight shimmer of a dark dark red. I like it.
